The research group led by Wang Shutao, a researcher of Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS, and the research group led by Liang Xinmiao, a researcher of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, cooperated to develop a kind of polymeric microsphere with hydrophilic/ hydrophobic heterogeneous nanopore. In the solvent with different polarities, this microsphere can absorb the biomolecules selectively so as to separate the trace glycopeptides from complicated sample effectively. The relevant research achievements were published on the Advanced Materials. The research has been powerfully supported by many funds including but not limited to the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National “Ten Thousand People Program” Leading Talent Project of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee and the planned project of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission.
This is work is another progress on the basis of emulsion interface polymerization. The emulsion interface polymerization strategy previously development by Wang Shutao’s research group realized the controllable preparation of adjustable amphiphilic Janus microsphere material with topological structure and chemical composition; those amphiphilic Janus microspheres apply to the effective separation of oil-water emulsion. Meanwhile, this interface polymerization method can be expanded to the preparation of 2D Janus membrane material.
The microsphere with hydrophilic/ hydrophobic heterogeneous nanopore provides a new concept for the development of new biomolecule separating material, and is expected to apply in the biomolecule separation and subsequent clinical diagnosis. Once being published, this work has won the wide attention of domestic and foreign peers and media.
